Katelyn Emma Bretz

On November 5th at 11:57pm Katelyn Emma Bretz joined the world. This is one of the best moments that has happened to Matt and I. We are very blessed with a precious little girl. It all started on Saturday morning of the fifth of November. I was doing the usual house cleaning and I felt some pains and I had some leakage. I called Matt at work and told him and then he told me to call the doctor to make sure. After I talked to the doctor she said to go into the hospital to have them check me out. When I got to the hospital they knew right away that my water had broke. I then was admitted into the hospital. I was not having contractions so they put me on pitocin and man did the contractions start coming! Around 4pm I was in a lot of pain so I asked to have my epidural. After the epidural I was very relaxed and was hanging out with Matt, my mom and dad until 10pm. Then I was fully dilated and I started pushing. I pushed for two hours and at 11:57pm Katelyn was born. She is perfect and we love her so much! She weighed 6 pounds 15 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long. The first week has been pretty good. We are all doing well and sleeping as much as possible.

Week 34

Today the nursery was put together!! It is so cute thanks to my mom and my aunt Sandy. They decorated the whole room today. It took them about six hours. I just love the room, and I keep going upstairs to look at it over and over again. Everything is up and hung in the room. We are waiting for the glider and we are changing the closet doors, other than that it is PERFECT for Baby Bretz!

Week 32 and Shower #2

On Saturday I had baby shower number 2! My mom, my Aunt Sandy, and Mrs. Wittig hosted and put the shower together. They did a wonderful job. Everything was decorated so cute! Baby Bretz is going to be one spoiled child. We got SO many gifts from our generous family and friends. The shower was such a great time and I have enjoyed looking at all the gifts again today and sorting through them. Thank you to everyone who came to the shower!!!

Labor Day Breakfast

It has been a Bretz tradition for over 30 years to have breakfast on Labor Day at Lake Springfield. The older Bretz children get out to lake early in the morning to start preparing for the breakfast. They make eggs, pancakes, hash browns, toast, and monkey bread to feed over 40 people. This year everyone arrived around nine and we all ate breakfast together. This year was really chilly, so a lot of us were bundled up and enjoying each others company. It is always something that we look forward to every Labor Day.

Week 30

Barb (Matt's Mom) had a shower for us in Springfield this past weekend. The shower had a theme of ABC's and orange/yellow/green. The shower turned out sooo cute! We had lunch, played some games, and opened presents. We got a lot of nice gifts for Baby Bretz. Also, everyone bought a book and wrote a special message in it to Baby Bretz. It was fun to read all of the messages and look at the gifts again last night. I felt like it was Christmas in September. Everyone was very generous and we are lucky to have such giving family and friends.

Week 29

WOW! I am now in my third trimester! The time has flown by, summer has come and gone and now school has started. I have been feeling totally great throughout this pregnancy. Now that I am a working, when I come home I am dead tired. I am not use to being on my feet all day long. I went to my doctor's appointment yesterday and they said," everything looks good, keep doing what your doing!" The next couple of weeks will be busy with baby showers, a High School Reunion, and BBQ's! I look forward to all of this!
