Easter

This morning when Katelyn woke up, we had an Easter egg hunt for her. She knew exactly what to do, because we had practiced a couple of times. She also found her Easter basket from the Easter bunny. Some of us went to church and Katelyn took a nap, then we headed to brunch and spent the rest of the day relaxing. It was a nice way to end our Spring Break. I think I would like another week of Spring Break!

Decorating Easter Eggs

Tonight, we went over to Great Grandma Bretz's to decorate Easter eggs. It was a crowded house, but it was fun to all be together and catch up. Katelyn and Levi had a great time putting the eggs into the colors. Katelyn only lasted about 5 minutes and she was not interested in coloring the eggs. I am sure next year that might be a different story. We ended the night with some homemade popcorn from Uncle David. It was DELICIOUS!!!

The Shedd Aquarium

Today, we headed to the Shedd Aquaruim. We were out the door by 7:30 to make sure we got there right when it opened at 9. It was a good idea on my part, because when we were leaving at noon the lines were extra long. We had no problem getting in and not having to wait in a line. Katelyn enjoyed seeing all the fish, turtles, frogs, and whales. When we would hold her up to the fish tank, she would make a funny fake laugh when a fish swam close up to the glass. It was a great to spend the morning at the Shedd and then we met Uncle Mark for lunch in the city afterwards. Once Katelyn hit her carseat she was out. All that walking and fish seeing wore her out!

DuPage Children's Museum

Well, if you weren't sure if it was Spring Break or not, when you walked into the Children's Museum you could totally tell it was. The place was packed, but Katelyn did not seem to mind at all. She is starting to become very independent. She wants to walk around by herslef and not hold your hand. At times it was fine, but at other times people did not realize that she was there and she got bumped into.
Katelyn enjoyed all of the exhibits, but her favorite was the big water table. She was soaking wet after playing at it for 45mins, we had to change her clothes after she was done. I hope to go there more often, now that she is getting older!

Reading books

Katelyn has always loved reading books, but recently she will sit down by herself and "read" to herself. It is really cute, because she sits in the lazy boy chair and gets animated with the books.

Katelyn's first haircut

Our first spring break adventure was to safari snips to get Katelyn's first haircut. The place was pretty neat, it had a slide, cars, and ice cream. We thought Katelyn was going to be scared, but she fooled us. She sat in the chair, while we distracted her. She did a great job with her first haircut. After we went out to lunch at Johnny Choo-Choos. It's a cute restaurant for kids. Katelyn loved all the trains going around and she was constantly saying Choo-Choo. It was nice to spend the Monday with Katelyn and Matt.

Early Easter

This year we are headed to Springfield for Easter, so we had an early Easter with my parents tonight. They came over around 4 and put Easter eggs outside for Katelyn to pick up. She was not really interested in the eggs, she was more interested in walking around outside. She LOVES the outdoors and since it has been so cold, we have not gone outside much lately. She eventually picked them up. It felt a little bit like Christmas, because she received an Easter basket from Auntie Sandy and Grammie and Papa. Once again there are toys everywhere. She sure is loved and totally spoiled. It was a great way to start off our Spring break!

Katelyn's first snowman

Photo: Katelyn's 1st snowman

Matt and Katelyn built a snowman on Thursday. Actually, Matt built it, while Katelyn walked around in the snow. She loves the snowman, she says hi to it about ten times a day!
