Dinner Party

My good friend Laura has been living in Argentina for the past four months. She is home for a couple of weeks during January. Her parents decided to host a dinner party with all our friends and now two babies, so that she could meet them. We had dinner, drank, and laughed a WHOLE lot. It was great to spend time with everyone and their significant others. We miss Laura a lot but it is these times that we cherish. Thank you again to Mr. and Mrs. Burnett for hosting the dinner party!

Lights, Camera, Action

Smiling Katelyn

This morning Katelyn was sitting in my lap and I was talking to her and playing with her.  I had this little bird toy that she loves and she was smiling like crazy at it. I told Matt to hurry and get the camera and try to get her in action. Here is what we got.............

Little Cameron Man.....

One of my best friends, since middle school, had a baby boy on Jan. 9th. Carrie had little Cameron James. We went to visit him on Tuesday. He is the sweetest little guy. He has A LOT of hair just like Katelyn did when she was born. He is 8 pounds but seems so little compared to Katelyn. Katelyn is only 10 pounds, but those two pounds make a big difference. It was so fun visiting with Paul, Carrie and Cameron. Later on Leigh, Lisa, and Katherine stopped by as well. I look forward to having many play dates with little Cameron. Who knows maybe one day they will be dating!

Meeting Grayson

Our good friends from college, Cody and Jessica live in Decatur and had a baby boy a year ago. We never had the opportunity to meet him. Since, we were in Springfield for five days we decided that we needed to meet this little guy. He is now a year old and is the cutest little guy! At first he was not really interested in Katelyn..... until his mom was holding her. I think Grayson was getting a little jealous. We were trying to get him to give her a kiss. He finally did and it was the cutest thing. It was wonderful finally getting to meet Grayson and spending some time with Cody and Jessica. We are looking forward to going to Vegas with them in the summer, but no kids allowed!

Happy Birthday Oma

Last Thursday, we drove down to Springfield for Oma's birthday. It was a little bit scary because that was when the snow had started. We took it slow and made it safe down to Springfield in under four hours. Katelyn slept the whole car ride, which was nice because we really did not want to stop, since it took so long to get there. Oma's birthday was on Friday. A tradition in the Bretz household is to make breakfast for the birthday person and serve it to them in bed. Katelyn got to serve and sing Happy Birthday to Oma on her actual birthday. It was fun to celebrate Oma's birthday with her. I think she really enjoyed having Katelyn with her on her birthday! 

Two Months Old

Crazy hair Katelyn!

Yesterday Katelyn turned two months old. Matt and I have just adored her. She is so funny to watch. She makes all kinds of funny faces when she is awake and sleeping. She brings so much joy to our lives and we can not imagine our family without her! Over the past month she has gained some weight. Her face is much fuller and she has some chunky cheeks, which is very cute. She also has gotten longer, her legs are pretty long. I think she is going to be tall like her parents. She no longer wears newborn clothes!:( I put them all away the other day. She now wears 3 month clothes. Katelyn is out of newborn diapers as well, she now wears size one. She is so much more alert. She loves to look at the fans, lights, and recognizes her mom and dad. Some of her favorite toys are her swing and jungle gym. When she lays under her jungle gym she talks and coos at the toys above her. It is fun to listen and watch her play!  Knock on wood, she has been sleeping through the night since she was one month. She usually goes to bed at 10 and sleeps until 7! I have gotten a couple of smiles, but I am sure she will start smiling a lot more very soon. We can't wait to see what the next month brings!

New Years Eve

This year for New Year's Eve we celebrated it with Barb, Joe, and Kevin. We decided to head to the Brookfield  Zoo, because they have the festival of lights going on. It was not to cold out and we thought that Katelyn would be fine if she was all bundled up. We left the house around 4:30, that gave us about three hours to walk around the zoo. We got in for free and went to the dolphin show for free all thanks to my Uncle Don. He works at the zoo and he has that perk of getting family in for free. The whole time Katelyn was in her stroller all bundled up. We enjoyed walking around and looking at all the lights and Christmas trees up. The zoo was decorated so pretty for  Christmas. We saw a bunch of animals as well. The dolphin show was one of our favorite parts and plus it was nice and warm inside. The zoo also had a laser show that went along with Christmas music. All in all it was a very fun time, we hope to go next year as well.
After the zoo we headed back to Naperville to go out to dinner. We decided to go to Red Robin, because it is never crowded there. We enjoyed some hamburgers and fries and then headed back to the house. We tried to stay  up until midnight, which we did..even little miss Katelyn decided she wanted to as well. We rang in the New Year and then headed to bed. We enjoyed our 2011 New Year's Eve Bash! (HA)

2012
